One-Minute Edit WIP

DrewTM

This is an image I just started. My idea is that we will take turns downloading it, spending exactly one minute working on it, and then saving and re-posting it. It will evolve as we go; to avoid lengthy discussions, let us not spend time communicating intent or content, but rather let the picture speak for itself.

I will be using the GIMP, which is great software that is free to download and use. Use whatever software you want, but please save in a .PNG format with low compression.

It is currently (if you click on the picture to see the full size version) a .PNG file, with a compression level of 1. If, when you work on it, you re-save it in the same file format, then hopefully the image will not degrade very much as we go along.

If anyone has any thoughts about specifying a rotation order, please share, either as you do your 1-min ed or in the comments here.

An Echo Thrown

Fred

the brilliant sunset hues are mine.
the silence speaks more than a chorus
haunted by the twilight,
obscured before it could be described.

the shimmering rage drops in,
unexpectedly
a sigh inaudible,
an image barely grasped.

strawberry summer storms
spinning fans, glints of sorrow
the cascading glorious fury
assault my eyes.

let me paint for you a voiceless song:
flakes of hope collect at my feet
fashioned of soft luminescence.
i wrap them about my half-formed dreams.

Becca

let me paint for you a voiceless song
of the pleasing drone of spinning fans
summer storms rage in glorious fury
cascading drops shimmer
strawberry scents unexpectedly waft
a sense of impending change lingers
an image barely grasped
obscured before it could be described
a sigh inaudible
an echo thrown
the brilliant sunset hues are mine
i wrap them about my half-formed dreams
fashioned of soft luminescence
glints of sorrow assault my eyes
the silence speaks more than a chorus
haunted by the twilight
flakes of hope collect at my feet

interview

Fred

As you can see, TWN now has 11 members, which makes us 1 shy of a quorum of members, 1 short of the full compliment necessary to conduct and execute official business, such as appointing a creative director for Mozambique and issuing various other decrees and dictates. Therefore and thus, we must conduct an interview for a 12th member. Please send in a resume and CV, along with your social security number, mother's maiden name, two locks of your hair, and a picture of your family crest to:

Things Worth Noting
#### XXXXXXXX XXX
XXXXX, XX ######

The address has been redacted for your protection, and the privacy of our various protectorates and shareholders. We promise to carefully view every application. We also like to conduct phone interviews. So that you might be prepared for such an interview, immediately following are sample questions?

How does your previous job experience prepare you for this position?
Do you work well in teams or groups?
Name what you think to be your greatest accomplishment.
In what city were you born?
In what part of your body is your muse located?
What is the difference between a myth and a fable?
If you could choose to never have to eat again, would you?
Tell two true stories in which a lie is a significant element.
Would you rather be an auditor or an undertaker?
Are you often lonely and/or depressed?
What is the capital of Mozambique?
Why should we hire you?
Why can't you be more like your mother?
Describe, in the context of a cost push shock, the difference between the natural and efficient levels of output for a small open economy?
Describe the last time you died.

Hopefully these questions are of some use to you as you prepare for your interview. You may want to formulate some questions to ask us. We eagerly await your applications.

Grand New Bold

NickCueva

There was a small patch of white velvet that was folded into the shape of a lamb skull.
It was so precious that is was valued by weight at one thousand dollars an ounce.
It was purchased by the local Methodist church, and they put it on display in the rectory.
Many pilgrims from around the country came to see the velvet skull.
No one could touch it, lest the velvet lose it's sheen and lose its power.
Over the years the velvet yellowed, and many took this as a sign.
"As the moon turned to blood, the sun to black and the velvet lamb skull to yellow."
I was born the year it was declared "White Corn".
My sister was born in the year of "Eggshell cream".
I graduated in the year of "Vanilla Custard".
I married in the summer of "Glow".
Our first child was born in the year of "Sun Whisper".
Our second, the year it turned "Honey Moth"
Our second died the winter of "Oklahoma Wheat".
I stopped going to see the skull after that.
I wonder when yellow will be yellow, and when I will see my son in heaven.
I wonder when God will draw the line.
Does God see yellow the way we do?
Do I see yellow the way that God does?
It is rumored that whatever the color of the velvet lamb skull when He returns will be the color of the golden streets.
I can't wait.

sucks to be...

DrewTM

something is missing.
a kiss? a true wish?
happiness?
a mystery? death?

are nipples missing?
do i need more kitsch?
will a journey do it?
have i not found God?

if i sleep more i will not find it.
the more tired i am the less i will know.
asking why ends your sanity.
what am i missing?
