For seasons now I've been running
Under stars in silent clouds
Casual, like freckles
Killing every gasping sound
Through sun breaking--bending at least
Revealing gradients and stripes
Yellow. Green. Blue. Fantasy.
Indigo was made up by a teacher.
Never run longer than the light.
Give up on rainbows.

I am hereby starting another collaborative poem. To begin, I'll write six pairs of words, which the next person should, in some manner, make into a five-line stanza, throwing out one pair.
bask given
owl stern
ale (re)possess
round white
totem evidence
hungry dismiss

I found this in my blog from 3 years ago.I am now going to count a number of words. The only meaning that can be prescribed for this conundrum is to pronounce judgement on the works of fiction with which we surround ourselves. The number of words is also equal to the number of parts in the whole orchestra. But the orchestra has fewer parts than the word parts. Additionally, peanuts have the same parts as the orchestords’ calculus.
The end is very nearly the beginning, if you don’t count all the stops in between and the fire that rages on inside each of our minds. “Deltoids have faces too,” they say, but they are wrong. However, the fire and the deltoids do have one thing in common. They are both imaginary synchronizations and simulacra of the modern age.

I found a strange j-like shape in my sketchbook
so I drew this around it.
I don't know what any of it is.

If it doesn’t strike us it will strike us later.
As though we were cheetahs, we run,
As though grey machines of steel, we stand,
The never-ending, piecemeal plot.
We are not challenged by gnostics.
This sweet Hippocrene pouring forth on Mount Helicon,
To us, reduces and sharpens us,
Agrees us into hollow troughs.
We wear our speech closely in this new plane of meetings.
Deadbolt nine-millimeter, we find dilapidated mineshafts
To anguishes, delights, to unspoken, purple-mouthed truths.
We squeeze tunnels through where we weren’t meant to meander.
Following smiles will be knowing, laced with milk-skins.
We are petering, teetering, blanched
Toward the white, misty abyss,
Its spidering ironies ever before our faces,
Our feet rooted in the salted snow of a vast empire.
We can’t come to our conclusion.
We shall come to it at another time.
We’ve got cherries and bunting,
I’ve made a bunt cake for the ride;
I can’t make certain what the time will be,
But we can feel electricity shock through us
Like electric needles piercing our veins
Whatever is hurtling before our nonchalant city brights,
Nine times out of ten a candle illuminates it for us,
Adventuring ever forward as though we knew naught.
I don’t know how to hurry out of here,
But if there was a pleasant theme tune I would hum it.
We carry on, we lag behind.
Baskets and scenery
Heralds and clauses
Fairly missing sadscapes and rocket-disasters.
We carry on. There is no ‘lag behind.’
We call it the coming and going,
The talking from east and west.
Dogs and cars are ashen to our call.
We elapse forward and scurry back.
It started with him and we have this world.

I can only say "it is so,"
and uncurl and stretch that into my memory,
Laundry on a drying line.
Skeins through windy plains.
Have you sought the whole?
I have, and I halve and hatchet
Crushed conversations down to nothing.
I choke up fake answers.
to satisfy my friends
to mechanize my ends
to anesthetize my lusts
(Can five pounds of domed fat
Make me lose my head?
Can seven pages of stained fiber
Bring to me a new one?
Can six suggestions of life
Pull me off of my tower?
Can numbers even describe
a human mind? A Human Mind??)
I have tried to answer why, but
Grass pushes cracks through caked asphalt.
Interjections pile up beneath cobbled words.
Roots ripple stone still in the quarry.
I trip over the questions that I own.

wherever we want,
like bumblebees.
above the earth like silent watchers,
ready and poised
to enter being with a blast,
to exude living energy.
to sweep through the air and cross the sky,
and command the clouds
that tower in the firmament,
only to come down with the rain
and splash in puddles.
so soft,
but cold as ice
like the frigid air that brings exhilarating silence
when it's so cold we can see our breath.
to run on the moonlit grass in summer,
the cool blades prickling our feet
and the warm air swirling with the dance
that was written on our hearts at the beginning of time.
Or out on the earth,
conquering vast expanses of wonder,
discovering beautiful intricacies of being
and imparting upon life our hearts
that are beating.
This essence that fills our veins!
no one can take it away.
meet the boundless potential.
Drink in the day!
the evermore lies waiting.
no use staying only for life to arrive, and late.
no, we will meet it with a smile,
then challenge it to a neverending game of tag
God's green earth is out there,
He will show us the way.
we have many things to do and words to say.
To climb to new heights,
to live, to breathe.
not knowing where you are,
Here I am waiting
to begin the journey,
live life, and breathe

Working in manufacturing I feel the weight of the blue-collar refinement of the mid- 20th century pressing down all around me, stacked a hundred years high and more with the Industrial Revolution. In words like 'collet' and 'chamfer' and even 'leave,' in the smell and feel of oil on steel, in the stark detail of line drawings and all-capital lettering, I am connected to millions of men.

This can teach you, step-by-step,
how you can "boycott" this whole "recession".
As in...REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE.
BUT...
- what about the all the doom and-gloom?
- what about all the bad news?
- what about all the bankruptcies and bail-outs?
- what about all the foreclosures?
- what about the stock market turmoil?
Forget about it... Boycott it ALL!
Boycott the Recession right now by calling Fred

For whom shall the man breathe,
broken and empty in a world of beauty?
So to the night,
to the world he moves.
For whom shall the heart beat in the passing lonely air?
For we taste union yet with none
but the quiet one
whom the tender crickets extol.
For what shall we open our eyes
if the lids withhold
only smoke? And mirrors cannot either
fulfill such hungry vision.Labels: Drew

Do the far-sighted see better things?
Maybe the blind see the best. Am I
really picking the flesh of the Christ from my teeth?
Tortuous, colored flames tower and rise
as the pieces of my life are on fire.
And I'm picking the flesh of the Christ from my teeth.
